The Wisdom of The Ancients Rediscovered
Grown in Mexico, Chia Seed was a diet staple of the Aztecs and Mayans. The Chia Seed's nutrients provided sustained energy during long hunts and had numerous medicinal benefits. Revered by the people, Chia Seed was often used in religious ceremonies which led to its ban by the Spanishduring their conquest of the region.
Today we know that Chia seed is a nutritional powerhouse with a lengthy list of health benefits. It is a valuable source of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), an Omega-3 essential fatty acid that help support normal cardiovascular function and fiber which helps support normal functioning of the digestive tract and can have a positive effect on cholesterol. Chia seeds are easily digestible and do not need to be ground. With its versatility and mild, nutty flavor, chia seed is a healthful addition to any diet.
